Safeguarding

Safeguarding at Grange

Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) – Mrs Smith, Headteacher
Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead – Ms Charles, Deputy Headteacher
Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead – Ms James, SENCo

What is Safeguarding?

  • Protecting children from maltreatment;
  • Preventing impairment of children’s health or development;
  • Ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care; and
  • Taking action to enable all children to have the best life chances.

Some common areas of Safeguarding include the following: Neglect, Emotional Abuse, Physical Abuse and Sexual Abuse.

Common themes relating to safeguarding are: Children missing from Education, Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE), Bullying including Cyberbullying, Domestic Violence, Drugs, Fabricated or induced illness, Faith abuse, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), Forced Marriage, Gangs and Youth Violence, Mental Health, Private Fostering, Preventing Radicalisation, Sexting, Trafficking.

Grange is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy which can be viewed in the Policies section of our website. The school works with the Local Authority to ensure safeguarding practices are upheld and that our pupils are in a safe, stimulating and supportive environment. Practices are reviewed regularly to ensure safeguarding remains effective.

All staff have annual training in Safeguarding and Child Protection at the start of the academic year, as well as training during the school year. We have a Safeguarding/Child Protection Team who regularly monitor and discuss safeguarding issues. The team consists of the following staff:

  • Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Senco

If you require support or have a concern in relation to the welfare of a child, you can speak with any of the above members of staff.
