Year 1 have been studying plants in Science which included trees. We went to visit West Ham Park and we had to identify Evergreen trees and Deciduous trees. We had to make sure we were looking closely at the leaves and trunks and use our sense of touch to help us identify them. We decided to make our educational visit cross-curricular and link it to maths. We had to compare trees based on the height and girth around the trunk. We did this using non-standard unit measures and used our arms as a way to measure.
